An analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, from Concord securities is reporting some features of the upcoming iPad 2.
As reported by Kuo, the iPad 2 will not have a higher resolution as some hoped!
Though there are some screen improvements.
- The screen will be 30-35% thinner
- The screen will have a better anti-reflective properties (better sunlight reading!)
Anti-reflection is indeed one of the key features in Amazon's anti-iPad commercials!
Old iPad vs the Kindle!! (as seen in the video!)
The next iPad will also use a Cortex A9 dual core processor running at 1.2GHz, as well as Imagination Technologies' SGX 543 dual-core graphics technology.

A couple Facebook for iPhone bugs have been reported by disgruntled Facebook users. Two known problems have recently started surfacing within Facebook’s official app: status updates from the iPhone are not being sent to the News Feed, and Facebook for iPhone is missing from users’ privacy settings.
We have no information as to how widespread these problems are, but there has been enough complaint to justify these bugs as real issues.
Here are the details:
Status Updates Not Working!!
Facebook users have been complaining that when they update their status in the Facebook app, the status only appears on their wall and not their friends’ live feed. So, technically status updates are working, just not in the way that they should.
In order to see a status update from someone experiencing this problem with the Facebook app, one would have to specifically go to that person’s wall. And unless you’re a stalker, you probably don’t do that to all of your friends.
Solutions:
- Facebook’s mobile site seems to not be effected by this bug. You can update your status by visiting Facebook in mobile Safari until Facebook fixes the problem with the app.
- Use another social networking app to post status updates. Lots of apps have the functionality of sending updates to multiple social networks at once or selectively.
- Don’t update your status for a little while. Sometimes a Facebook break is needed.
Can’t Find Those Privacy Settings
Facebook for iPhone’s privacy settings have also vanished from users’ accounts. When you give any type of app or website permission to use your Facebook account, its information is stored in your account’s privacy settings. If you visit Facebook’s standard webpage and look in your privacy settings, you will see a list of apps that you have given permission to have access to your account.
From this list you can edit the permissions of each app/service you use. You can edit specific behavior settings, and remove services you don’t want.
It seems that Facebook for iPhone is now missing from this list. Perhaps Facebook thought it didn’t need to include its own app in this list, but I’m sure we would all like to know if the app has any special permissions to our information that we’re not aware of.
Temporary Solution:
- Don’t use Facebook’s app on the iPhone. This is obviously not a real “fix” for the problem, so hopefully Facebook will wake up and fix it pronto.
If this issue doesn’t bother you, then it won’t matter if Facebook fixes this privacy problem or not. But for decency’s sake, we hope they do.

As we look forward to launch the iPhone on Verizon, we have to look back at the impact iPhone has had in the society. Upon such reflection over the last four years, several types of users have emerged:
THE FANBOY
The Fanboy is excited about every Apple. He owns every previous version of the iPhone, and frequently posts on Mac rumor forms. He proudly wears an Apple t-shirt, bought off ebay from disgruntled former Genius Bar technician, so often you suspect he's not laundering in order to prevent it from fading.
The Fanboy blames any and all problems on AT&T, and is fully prepared to scapegoat Verizon as well.
The Unappreciative has never bought an app, doesn't use a case, and complains about how big the phone is. She misses her Motorola Razr.
THE OVERUSER
Unlike the Unappreciative, The Overuser uses his iPhone to the full extent he can. In fact, he's ALWAYS on it, to the degree that it's difficult to hold a conversation. He dropped $50 on a bulky, toilet-proof case, and downloads apps out of sheer boredom.
He dressed us as Angry Bids for Halloween.
THE DESKJOB
He walks around with in-ear bluetooth.
THE HACKER
The Hacker can't be constrained by things like "Terms of Service" or "The FCC". She jailbroke her iPhone the day she got it, and uses it to do things like remote start her car and turn her neighbors' TV on and off from across the street.
She's long since cut off AT&T and makes free calls from Skype via WiFi instead of using a phone plan. She tries to convince the Fanboy to also jailbreak so he can tether his laptop, but he's too scared to do it!
THE SENIOR CITIZENNo one's really sure how this guy ended up with an iPhone. He has told to hold it really far
away from his face to use it, and types at 1WPM. You wonder why this guy has a cell phone in the first place, and especially cringe when you hear the default iPhone ring tone play ceaselessly from his jacket pocket while he tinkers with his hearing aid.
THE COMPLAINER!
This guy does nothing but whine about the iPhone from the touch keyboard to censorship, to Steve Job's sweaters.
He tells people he's getting an Android as soon as his contract is up, and gets mad when he sees the Senior Citizen using it incorrectly.
He's probably going to get the next iPhone anyway!!

A new tweak is to be released in Cydia soon. It will give more power to your Voice Control by opening apps, launch URLs and perform any activator action, like taking a screenshot!!
VoiceActivator will have a settings panel where you can create the voice shortcuts and have them recognized by iOS' built-in support for voice command.
Let's say you want to open MacStories in a new Safari page, assign "macstories" to a new action in VoiceActivator. Then speak it and Safari will launch..JUST LIKE THAT!
Kind of fancy to show off to your friends!

The iPhone Dev Team has confirmed that a Windows Version of Redsn0w 0.9.7 is on its way for jailbreaking iOS 4.2.1 with iOS 4.1 IPSW instead of iOS 4.2b3 firmware and SHSH blobs.
Since Apple still serves the 4. IPSW (not blobs!) , we'll do a windows redsn0w release for untethered 4.2.1 via Monte -4.1
Unfortunately, it wouldn't be really fast as the Windows version of Redsn0w will be using filesystem instead of RAM.

AT&T is quietly offering SOME of their customers the ability to switch to Unlimited Data to keep them from changing to Verizon!
According the Associated Press reports, AT&T's offer is being made to customers who had previously been on an unlimited plan for the iPhone on AT&T but had switched to one of the company's lower-cost capped plans when it restructured its data plans as the iPhone 4 was announced last June. As part of that restructuring, customers with unlimited data have been permitted to retain their plans, but those who opted to switch to capped plans were told that once that change had been made they would be unable to switch back to unlimited data at any time in the future.
Based on this new report, AT&T appears to quietly be making exceptions to that policy, allowing users to move back to Unlimited Data RATHER than seeing them defect to Verizon!!
Verizon Wireless will start offering the iPhone on Tenth of February with a draw that AT&T no longer offers to new subscribers: a plan with unlimited data usage. But The Associated Press has learned that some AT&T iPhone users on limited plans won't need to move to Verizon for unlimited data.
In an unadvertised loophole, AT&T Inc. has allowed subscribers who have had an unlimited data plan in the past to switch back . That includes anyone who had an iPhone before June, when the limited plans took effect.
The company appeared to have rolled out full details of the options available for Verizon iPhone customers!
With both available models 16GB ($199) and 32GB ($299)!!
But now it seems like Apple has removed the Verizon iPhone ordering pages from its site!!
Last night, at the
downtime of the online Apple store, the company has given out the full details of the options available for Verizon iPhone customers.
The requirements were to accept a two-year contract while selecting from many options for voice, data and messaging plans!
Individual Voice plans:
- for 450 minutes, $40 dollars per month
- for 900 minutes, $60 dollars per month
- for Nationwide Unlimited, $70 dollars per month.
Family SharePlans:
- for 700 minutes, $70
- for 1400 minutes, $90
- for 2000 minutes, $100
- for unlimited, $120
The only data plan that was available for the Verizon iPhone was a $30 unlimited plan with an
add-on option offering 2GB of mobile hotspot and tethering data per month for an additional $20.
- for 250 messages,$5
- for 500 messages, $10
- for the unlimited messages $20
Customers could also decline to add the messaging and plan, and simply be billed at a per message rate of 20cents ad 25cents per picture or video message.
The family share plan messaging options included the same per use, the five and ten dollars plans.
But the $20 plan included 5000 messages for family talk customers with an additional $30 plan offering unlimited shared messages across devices on the plan!

Apple has started approving some apps in the app stores which claims to be
iOS 4.3 compatible suggesting iPhone, iPad and iPod touch user shouldn't wait lomg for the new update.
Nextmag mobile for iOS has been updated to be compatible as well!
The new things in version 4.0 are:
- The last bug fixes and stability enhancements
- In-app registration
- The ability to synchronize searches and wishlists between Nextag mobile and any desktop computer
- Sing in to your account via Nextag or Facebook right in the app
- Compatible with iOS 4.3
iOS 4.3 beta 2 was released last week and beta 3 may be released this week!
Most probably Apple will release beta 4 by next week followed by a GM seed before public release, so we may see iOS 4.3 final just after the arrival of
iOS 4.2.5 with Verizon iPhone!
Macworld received official word from Verizon about the pricing of the new wireless hotspot feature announced earlier this month. .
Raney said that Verizon iPhone owners will be able to take advantage of the 3G wireless hotspot feature for an extra $20 per month on top of the iPhone’s required voice and data plans--that’s the same price that applies to current Verizon smartphone owners.
The wireless hotspot feature allows Verizon iPhone users to share their 3G internet connection over Wi-fi to up to 5 other devices, such as your laptop or iPad. This $20/month fee would be on top of the existing voice and data plans and is said to include 2GB of additional data.
If you'd like to get news about iPod, iPhone, iPad and etc...
AT&T presently offers single device tethering for the same cost ($20/mo extra) and is said to be exploring offering the same wireless hotspot tethering. This feature will be included in iOS 4.3, but will be dependent on carriers to provide support for it.

It could mean a new product.. Maybe the white iPhone..
But apple made a slight change to their website tonight with just a darker navigation bar!
As well as spring loaded and slide-in animations for products.
This new design resulted in several hours of downtime for the online store!
And there was no signs of the white iPhone or any new product!!

Apple is planning to incorporate Near Field Communication (NFC) in the next iPhone and iPad.
NFC is a technology that can send and receive information up to 4 inches. It's expected to introduce this product by this year.
It allows customers to walk into a store and make payments directly from their iOS device. Apple may also incorporate loyalty rewards and credit system in iTunes as well.
If you'd like to get news about iPod, iPhone, iPad and etc...
Apple has already made prototype payment terminals intended for businesses to scan NFC-enabled iPhones and iPads. These terminals could be given away to encourage adoption.
It has been hiring NFC experts as well as applied several patents on the technology.
