Most of you already knew that the popular iPhone & PlayStation hacker George Hotz has been sued in addition to fail0verflow team by Sony over the latest PS3 jailbreak. Today, more and more legal docs, regarding the case, have surfaced on the net. Geohot has filled some documents as a response to Sony's recent accusations. These documents give us a first look on his defense.




Based on these recent docs, it seems like Sony will have a formidable foe in Geohot and his lawyer. Other unreleased documents, filled by Sony's lawyers cites such websites as PSX-Scene, PS3News, Slashdot, Twitter, and more, as evidence against Geohot.

Geohot has updated his site again telling people that Sony has filed lawsuits against both him and the fail0verflow german team for jailbreaking PS 3 and allowing packages to be installed.


For those who don't know, Geohot was able to jailbreak PS 3 custom firmware 3.55 couple of days back with Homebrew thanks to the help of fail0verflow team, this opened the way to install custom packages.

Important part of the filled lawsuits follows as:

Defendants George Hotz, “Bushing,” Hector Cantero, Sven Peter and “Segher” (collectively, “Defendants”) are computer hackers.1 Working individually and in concert with one another, Defendants recently bypassed effective technological protection measures (“TPMs”) employed by plaintiff Sony Computer Entertainment America LLP (“SCEA”) in its proprietary PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system (“PS3 System”). Through the Internet, Defendants are distributing software, tools and instructions (collectively, “Circumvention Devices”) that circumvent the TPMs in the PS3 System and facilitate the counterfeiting of video games. Already, pirated video games are being packaged and distributed with these circumvention devices. Declaration of Ryan T. Bricker In Support of Ex Parte Motion for Temporary Restraining Order And Order To Show Cause Re Preliminary Injunction; Order for Impoundment (“Bricker Decl.”) ¶2, Exh. A. Pursuant to Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 65 and Local Rules 65-1 and 7-10, SCEA moves ex parte to put an immediate halt to the ongoing distribution of these illegal Circumvention Devices and avoid irreparable harm to SCEA and to other video game software developers stemming from video game piracy.

Defendants’ Circumvention Devices allow users to circumvent multiple TPMs in the PS3 System – including access control, encryption and digital signature protections – to enable use or playing of illegal copies of PlayStation®3 video games on the PS3 System.

The official PlayStation app for iPhone has just been released for iOS devices. The app doesn't let you play games but it allows the PlayStation faithful to log in with their PSN ID and connect to their Trophy haul, friends list and gaming news via the PlayStation Blog.

We have got lots of hands on and leaks of the PlayStation Phone known as Zeus Z1 and now a video has been spotted showing a lucky guy playing Resident Evil 2 and Rage Racer on the PlayStation.


Last month we showed you a quick hands on video, new photos of it running Android 2.3 Gingebread. Below is the video of PS Phone in action spotted by Engadget: 

The hardware is apparently on the up and up, although the fact that the titles had to be loaded through ROM Buddy (a third-party Android app for running ROMs) suggests that the software is still being tinkered with. Or that this is all a terrible hoax. That said, it looks like this thing is pretty much a done deal. See for yourself after the break.

Couple of days back, we informed you about a small group of German hackers called fail0verflow who found an exploit dubbed as the PlayStation 3’s “private key”, which is used by Sony itself to restrict the access to unsigned code and block pirated software.

Now, this prodigy hacker Geohot has released PS 3 Root Keys publicly on his own site beside thanking the fail0verflow team. He also encouraged them to contact him if they want their “next console to be secure”. From now on, developers can make their own applications, custom firmwares or even pirated ISOs without facing any kind of problems. Well, well, well. What's next geo? [PSX-Scene]

A while back, there has been rumors going around about a new phone from Sony called the Playstation phone. This phone should allow you to make calls, text, and much more! Most importantly, it would let you play games on it with Android as its operating system (as a PSP!). Below are videos of leaked Sony Playstation Phones.


This might mean that Sony is attempting to make this possible. Will this product sell more than Steve's Job's device? The device as shown in the video runs Android 2.3 Gingerboard with a dedicated PlayStation app which of course confirms that it's official from Sony itself.
