iPhone 4 jailbroken to run on China Telecom Network.

Employees of Chinese carrier China Telecom have successfully jailbroken and unblocked the CDMA iPhone 4, letting the device work on the company's network!

Employees of the Guangdong branch of China Telecom teased users this week with a post on its microblog saying they were working on a way to crack Verizon Wireless' CDMA iPhone, suggesting users might be able to use the device on China Telecom's network.

A post signed the "Apple Lab Team" on the Sina Weibo account identified as belonging to the Guangdong branch of China Telecom said Tuesday the "CDMA iPhone 4 has made its first call in China" without a hitch.
Preceding posts included a photo of a Verizon Wireless iPhone beside a tag labeled China Telecom Guangdong, then a photo of the device displaying the home screen for Cydia, a software application that allows users to find the applications and software packages for jailbroken Apple devices.
Reported the Wall Street Journal.

China Telecom had talks with Apple to offer the CDMA iPhone 4 and a new report, where Brian White says there will be a deal coming sometime this year.
The key takeaway is that the relationship between Apple and China Telecom is clearly moving in the right direction, and we believe that a deal will eventually be announced this year.

China Telecom has now 90.5 million subscribers, which is slightly behind Verizon and AT&T in terms of total subscriber base.

Apple will not develop a smaller iPhone!

Apple engineers are still working on the new iPhone and it is likely to be similar in size to the current iPhone.

According to the NYTimes, Apple is working on cheaper iPhone as well as integrating voice commands but the company is not planning to launch a smaller iPhone.

But contrary to published reports, Apple is not currently developing a smaller iPhone, according to people briefed on Apple's plans who requested anonymity because the plans are confidential.

The smaller screens would require a different coding of Apps to accommodate the new form which is an issue which Apple tries to avoid.
Apple executives are as well planning on dropping the price of the previous model when the new model is released, which may mean that the iPhone 4 will take the place of the $49 iPhone 3Gs.

The expected look of iPhone 5!

There are many rumors about the new iPhone designs including the ones with the slide-out keyboard, the 4inch screen iPhone and the small iPhone.

A macrumor member shows how a 4'' screen may fit on the existing iPhone 4 by just extending the screen from the edges!
As well as the small iPhone using the 3.5 screen in a similar way.

Testing iPhone 5!!

A Taiwanese site reports that Apple was testing three prototypes for the iPhone 5, one with a sliding keyboard!

Other prototypes are similar to the iPhone 4 with a bit of differences, as an upgraded battery and an 8MP camera. The report likens those prototypes to the transition from iPhone 3G to iPhone 3Gs with the same basic design augmented primarily by improvements in the device's internals.

As for the sliding keyboard, it doesn't seem consistent with Apple's devotion to multi-touch functionality with virtual keyboards. We may just keep the suggestions aside but Apple.pro has a good track record providing leaked information from Apple's products.

This site recently posted an Apple-branded touchscreen which appeared few months later in the company's latest iPod nano.

The site also notes that these are prototypes, suggesting that the sliding keyboard model could just be a design put together by Apple for the purposes of testing and may never be intended for public release.

Cydia is inaccessible on 3G Networks!

3 Ireland (iPhone carrier) has blocked Cydia's server from their network!
As well as UK and Unicom China!!

One of Redmond Pie's readers, living in the UK and having an iPhone 4 on three, noticed that the third network blocks many websites.
And now, they are blocking Cydia! Though the site works fine on WiFi!

This picture shows the effect of "3G"!

And that's the effect of WiFi!

Cheap iPhones!!

According to Wall Street Journal, Apple is now working on an iPhone half the size of the iPhone 4 and a major MobileMe overhaul to be released this summer!

The report claims the new iPhone, named N97, will be available at about half the price of Apple's main line of iPhones.
So it is expected this summer the iPhone 5 at $199/$299, iPhone 4 at $99 and iPhone nano at $49!

The report also mentioned that Apple is exploring a major overhaul of its MobileMe online storage service.
MobileMe is said to become a free locker for all of your personal media, which would allow Apple to provide less physical storage on their mobile devices.
In addition, MobileMe could tie into Apple's rumored cloud-based music service.

EVEN Verizon iPhone 4 has Antenna Issues!! (Video)

We wondered earlier, in the differences between AT&T and Verizon, whether the Verizon iPhone will be having an Antenna problem!!!

Well, iLounge has discovered that it does suffer form the same antenna problem found in the iPhone 4 launched in June 2010.
Though the antenna was redesigned, but that didn't solve the antenna-gate issue!
When the Verizon iPhone was held in landscape orientation with two hands the problem with Wi-Fi reception appeared, this was referred to as Death Hug!

So the Death Hug in iPhone will affect both Wi-Fi and cellular signals.

So in order to fix this issue, again we should use a protective case.

The easiness of switching to Verizon iPhone and backing up your stuff!! (Video)

Are you making the 'BIG SWITCH'!
Are you leaving AT&T, or moving from BlackBerry or Droid?!
Then you'll surely need to move your data or maybe look for ways to keep some of the functions you were used to!

The iPhone is surely popular and famous for its tranquility in its usage!
Though it can be stressful to leave a network and device you were comfortable with and get something new.
And thats the main thing we will talk about!

If you were an AT&T user and switching to Verizon, that will be an easy thing!
You will just need an iTunes back up.

However, if you're switching from BlackBerry or Droid, that will be bit longer!
Services like Gmail can help you get your contacts over(and provide push email, contacts and calendars.) and Apple apps like KIK and WAZE, and others as BBM and Google Navigation.

Did the first Verizon iPhone arrive?! (Video)

Can it be the very first Verizon iPhone taken by a customer?!

A video, uploaded at youtube, shows a user claiming to have gotten his Verizon iPhone from the UPS box center.

Many customers are still expecting it by Monday 7th!
And the new customers have to wait till the 9th for the online order and 10th for in-store purchasing!

AT&T targeting the Verizon iPhone!! (Video)

"ANSWER"
This is the first AT&T iPhone ad targeting the Verizon's iPhone.

It simply shows a man doing a search to find a "dining" while he's on phone with his wife.
It ends with "Only AT&T's network lets your iPhone talk and surf at the same time".

Voice and data is a main difference between both networks, AT&T's GSM and Verizon's CDMA.
On Verizon, 3G data service is not usable while you are on a voice call, though of course, local Wi-Fi networking would still work.

Verizon iPhone reviews!!

Better Reception...Slower Data

Before the launch of the Verizon iPhone, the embargo for early review units has been lifted. This early set of reviews provides a look at the early verdict on the Verizon iPhone. Reviews and some highlights are listed here.

Macworld
- "With a few minor variations, it looks, feels, and works just like the AT&T iPhone 4"
- iOS 4.2.6
- Good distance on mobile Hotspot
- "if you're using the Internet and your phone rings, your Internet connection immediately drops"

TechCrunch
- "This Verizon version of the iPhone 4 seems to have none of the same antenna issues [as the AT&T model]
- Much better with signal / lack of dropped calls than the AT&T model (in San Francisco)
- "the iPhone 4 can give you a solid 4 hours of hotspot/tethering time"

All Things D
- "the Verizon model did much, much better with voice calls"
- "AT&T's network averaged 46% faster at download speeds and 24% faster at upload speeds."

Engadget
- "Calls were consistently connected and uninterrupted, far more often than our AT&T calls in the same time period in similar locations."
- "data rates on the Verizon iPhone 4 we tested were dramatically slower than those on its AT&T counterpart."

Overall, there seem to be few surprises. Lack of simultaneous voice and data has been known and those in weak AT&T are having much better luck with Verizon, but data speeds are better on AT&T.
