Redsn0w 0.9.7b6 Download Available ! Fixes Skype Issues !

The iPhone Dev Team has just released another update for Redsn0w 0.9.7 to fix Skype issues on iOS device. Redsn0w 0.9.7b6 is available for Mac OS X users only and in next version, the target will be adding iOS 4.1 monte so you don't need to pirate iOS 4.2b3 to allow untethered jailbreak on iOS 4.2.1.

The sixth beta is now available (testers ONLY please!). This version fixes Skype. Please do not pirate the 4.2b3 IPSW! Only those enrolled in the iPhone Developer program have legitimate access to that IPSW using these links (http://pastie.org/1403214) (the links won’t work unless you’re a legit developer currently logged in).

Unlike the last few betas, you can freely run beta6 over beta5 without a problem (but for testing purposes, we’d really like people to try both ways….from stock, and from already jailbroken).

Now that the sandbox, Bluetooth, and Skype issues are fixed, our next priority is porting Monte back to 4.1. We’ll also try to make the Windows version less painfully slow.
To use Redsn0w 0.9.7b5, use our guide posted here while removing STEP 4 since it doesn't required usbmuxd anymore.

Redsn0w 0.9.7b5 Download Available ! Fixes Bluetooth Issues !

The iPhone Dev Team has just updated Redsn0w 0.9.7 untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak to fix bluetooth issues and any sand-box related issues will be fixed.

The Windows version is not released yet due to it's slow compared to the Mac OS X version. So the iPhone Dev Team working on speeding it and release it as soon as possible.

The update follows as:
The fifth beta is now available (testers ONLY please!). Bluetooth is now working (and any sandbox-related issues should be resolved too). Please do not pirate the 4.2b3 IPSW! Only those enrolled in the iPhone Developer program have legitimate access to that IPSW using these links (http://pastie.org/1403214) (the links won’t work unless you’re a legit developer currently logged in).

There is actually a Windows version of beta5, but it’s excruciatingly slow compared to the Mac version because it’s forced to use files on your hard drive instead of RAM while it’s processing the very large IPSW images. It really is very very painfully slow, so we probably won’t be releasing it for testing purposes unless it can be sped up somehow.
To use Redsn0w 0.9.7b5, use our guide posted here while removing STEP 4 since it doesn't required usbmuxd anymore.

iPhone 4 Unlock to Follow After Verizon iPhone Launch?

It’s been quite the last few days and people are still asking about iPhone 4 unlock on higher basebands. Look what we have found while perusing MuscleNerd’s Twitter account, the iPhone Dev Team may be waiting for Verizon iPhone’s launch next Tuesday to push their unlock to iOS users.

hishamm126: @MuscleNerd Can we conclude that the i4 unlock is ready but it’s just waiting for the untethered JB?

MuscleNerd: @hishamm126 the Verizon rumor mill is much more relevant :)
This tweet was sent by MuscleNerd in a reply to someone asking him if he’s waiting for the untethered jailbreak to be released. iPhone hacker MuscleNerd answered him saying that the time of release is more relevant to the Verizon iPhone rumors leaked yesterday.

Don't raise your hopes up, but share us what do you think of MuscleNerd's tweet? Feel free to leave comments below.

Redsn0w 0.9.6rc8 Download Available with Few Bug Fixes !

Redsn0w 0.9.6rc7 was released couple of days ago with ‘one-click’ tethered boot option to ease the process for those having a tethered jailbreak until the untethered redsn0w 0.9.7 jailbreak is finalized. Redsn0w 0.9.6rc8 offers a few bug fixes from rc7, most significantly that custom tethered boot logo commands will now report if and why an invalid PNG file is attempted.

You can download Redsn0w 0.9.6rc8 from the links below and use the same methods to boot tethered your iOS device mentioned here.

Download Redsn0w 0.9.6rc8 for Windows

Redsn0w 0.9.6rc7 Released ! Brings One-click Tethered iOS 4.2.1 Boot !

The iPhone Dev Team has just released a new version of Redsn0w with one-click tethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbeak boot support. Redsn0w 0.9.6rc7 includes “one-click tethered boot” support for those of you running the tethered 4.2.1 jailbreak.

With Redsn0w 0.9.6rc7, you can use command-line arguments so you can now bypass the screens you’d normally see as you use redsn0w to “Just boot tethered for now” when your device is rebooted.

Here's the update from the official blog:
We've updated redsn0w to include "one-click" support for those of you
running the tethered 4.2.1 jailbreak. Using command-line arguments,
you can now bypass the screens you'd normally see as you use redsn0w
to "Just boot tethered for now".

The available command line arguments are:

-j to ask redsn0w to "Just boot now"
-i to specify your reference IPSW
-o for old-bootrom iPod touch 2G and iPhone 3GS
-b
to specify your own boot logo png

For example, to get redsn0w for Mac to do a tethered boot of an iPod touch 4G jailbroken at 4.2.1:

open ~/Desktop/redsn0w.app --args -j -i ~/Desktop/iPod4,1_4.2.1_8C148_Restore.ipsw

This assumes both redsn0w and the IPSW are on your OS X desktop, so
modify as necessary! Included in the zip is an example script file
that you can double click on to launch redsn0w like this (the Windows
example assumes everything is in C:\). (Mac users: please remember to
change the permissions of your custom *.command files to allow
execution.)

This should help ease the pain of the tethered jailbreak until @comex
comes up with a 4.2.1 untether (or for those of you with legit access
to the 4.2b3 IPSW, until the "Jailbreak Monte" untether is out of
beta)!

- PLEASE UPGRADE TO iTunes 10.1 FOR BEST RESULTS
- WINDOWS 7 USERS SHOULD RUN redsn0w IN "XP COMPATIBILITY" MODE
- Make sure you're using a USB 2.0 port
Please note that the iPhone Dev Team is working on untethering iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak so you don't need to connect your iOS device everytime it reboots. They are have released Redsn0w 0.9.7 beta for Mac OS X, you can try the latest release of this beta but you need iOS 4.2 beta 3 hashes and IPSW file.

Save iOS 4.2.1 IPSW File and SHSH if You Want Untethered Jailbreak on iOS 4.3 for All iDevcies

Three weeks ago, we told you about the untethered jailbreak from Comex on iOS 4.2.1 for all iDevices which was scheduled to release by Christmas, but due to some issues Comex was not able to finish his job. So the iPhone Dev-Team had an alternative plan which is the "back up plan" using an old firmware iOS 4.2b3, but this firmware caused some piracy issues, as it's not available for public, it's only available for developers.

L0ung3f1Y asking: @comex or freakin release a jailbreak that does not require 4.2b3
MuscleNerd replying: So if @comex were to develop 4.2.1 untether, we warn all to save their 4.2.1 IPSWs for 4.3 untether via Monte
So, if Comex releases the untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 then you will need to preserve your iOS 4.2.1 IPSW and hashes to be able to get untethered jailbreak for the upcoming iOS 4.3

More explanation ? iOS 4.2.1 Redsn0w jailbreak  is based on Limera1n bootrom exploit by Geohot, but this exploit can't make untethered jailbreak itself, it needs some help to make untethered jailbreak which is a kernel hack, This is precisely what Comex wants to get.

While we are able to jailbreak all our iOS devices using Redsn0w 0.9.7, the dev-team may preserve the new Comex's kernel hack to untethered jailbreak all upcoming iOS for all iDevices, so you have to save the iOS 4.2.1 IPSW file and its hashes to enjoy untethered jailbreak as long as possible. Redsn0w 0.9.7b4 to Untethered Jailbreak Without the Need of ‘usbmuxd’ Process

iPhone Dev-Team has just released Redsn0w 0.9.7 beta 4 with a major change as the reds0w no longer requires you to install and run a separate program for the usbmux which caused a lot of confusion with the jailbreak process.

Starting with this version, redsn0w no longer requires you to install and run a separate program for the usbmux (this was a non-trivial procedure for many). It’s okay to keep that program running if you normally use it for ssh anyway. We also think we’ve fixed a race condition in the GUI that was causing redsn0w to crash during the “Preparing JB Monte Files” step. Nothing at all has changed on the iPhone side (where the main issues are still just Bluetooth and Skype).
As the Dev-Team mentioned in the above quotation, so far, this version is still causing problems with Bluetooth and Skype. Now you have to follow our full step by step guide (Skip step 4) to untethered jailbreak your iPhone 4, iPod touch 4G and iPad.

Redsn0w 0.9.7b4 will Include USBMuxd and Beta 5 with Windows Version?

Just a quick heads up! Redsn0w 0.9.7 beta was out yesterday to bring untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 but some of our readers has reported that usbmuxd process  is not working with them. Also Windows users were left behind and couldn't convert their devices to untethered jailbreak.

Though, the iPhone Dev Team is working hard on releasing new betas so in a new tweet today confirming that Redsn0w 0.9.7b4 will incorporates usbmuxd so you shouldn't worry anymore. In the same tweet, the iPhone Dev Team has confirmed that after finishing this task, the next version (Redsn0w 0.9.7b5) will include the Windows version.
tman15555: @redsn0w_testers when will the version that incorporates usbmuxd be realeased? I keep on getting stuck on installing bundles

redsn0w_testers: @tman15555 that version is next...and if that's successful, we should be able to expand to Windows testers after that
This indicates that we may very soon see the public release of Redsn0w 0.9.7. More updates as they come ! Stay tuned !

Redsn0w 0.9.7b2 is Out ! Fixes TaskSwitcher and App Crashes !

The iPhone Dev Team has just released the second beta of Redsn0w 0.9.7 to convert tethered jailbreak of iOS 4.2.1 to untethered on new-generation iOS devices. The second beta is still for testing only so stay away if you rely on your device or care for an unlock.

Redsn0w 0.9.7b2 fixes all the native app crashes (including Task switcher). This is the only change from the first beta that was released earlier today. Just follow the guide posted here to achieve the untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1. In case you got any problems usbmuxd in beta 1, this won't help, it's better to wait for another beta.

HOW TO: Jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 Untethered with Redsn0w 0.9.7

As promised, the iPhone Dev Team has released the necessary jailbreak tools which can untether the latest iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak on iPhone 4, iPod touch 4G, and iPad. Old-generation iOS devices already have untethered jailbreak on iOS 4.2.1.

For those who don't know, Apple has already patched the untethered patch in iOS 4.2.1 update so it becomes tethered jailbreak on new-generation devices mentioned above. Being tethered jailbroken means that once your iPhone is successfully jailbroken, you'll need to connect your iPhone to your computer if you ever need to reboot your iPhone or your iPhone loses battery charge. The updates Redsn0w 0.9.7 brings untethered jailbreak for those devices on iOS 4.2.1.

Below is the full step-by-step guide to jailbreak your iOS device using Redsn0w 0.9.7 and get untethered jailbreak immediately.

STEP 1: First of all, you have to jailbreak your iOS 4.2.1 device using Redsn0w by following the step by step instructions posted here.

STEP 2: Once jailbroken, tap on Cydia and check if your 4.2b3 SHSH blobs saved or not. You should see "SHSH: 4.2b3" in the status as shown in the screenshot below:
STEP 3: Now download Redsn0w 0.9.7b1 from the links given below and connect your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad.

STEP 4: Since this is a beta release, you must have usbmuxd that can be download from here. Now start terminal in python-client directory then type in the following commands:
chmod +x tcprelay.py

./tcprelay.py -t 22:2222
STEP 5: Now start Redsn0w 0.9.7 and point it to the official iOS 4.2.1 .IPSW file.
STEP 6: In the next page, check on Jailbreak Monte which untethers your iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak then point it to iOS 4.2 beta 3 firmware (helpful link).
STEP 7: Final step is to put your iOS device in DFU Mode using Redsn0w instructions on the screen.

Finally, sit back and let Redsn0w go in bunch of steps and you'll finally get untethered jailbreak on your new-generation iOS device.

Please note that this is a beta release, and upcoming versions will bring support for Windows users and will have built-in usbmuxd for easy process.

Cydia Now Saving iOS 4.2.1 SHSH Blobs for Untethered Jailbreak Today ! Get Ready !

Earlier today, Cydia started saving SHSH blobs of iOS 4.2.1 on new-generation devices only since I couldn't see the SHSH blobs on my iPhone 3G but it's been saved on iPhone 4. This happens because you'll get the untethered jailbreak after few hours !

This may be useful to get the untethered jailbreak. To save SHSH blobs of iOS 4.2.1, just tap on Cydia from your new-generation iOS device and hit on the Make my life easier button to save your blobs immediately.

For those who don't know, the iPhone Dev Team will release untethered Redsn0w 0.9.6b7 jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 or what's known by the backup plan today. We'll of course be posting this as soon as it's available for download and will be back with full how-to guides quickly. Stay tuned !

[Thanks @High_dB for hat tip via Twitter]

Mac Owner? Wanna Try the Untethered iOS 4.2.1 Jailbreak? Here's How !

I know that most of your are waiting eagerly for the untethered jailbreak solution on iOS 4.2.1 for new-generation iOS devices. As most of you know, the iPhone Dev Team already has the backup plan to achieve iOS 4.2.1 untethered jailbreak for Christmas Eve.

Just a few minutes ago, the iPhone Dev Team has confirmed the release of untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak for the Christmas Eve and asking for Mac OS X owners to help them with testing the the backup plan.
Over the Christmas weekend we’ll be releasing a version of redsn0w that implements the “backup plan” to the 4.2.1 untethered jailbreak. We’re seeking your help to test this redsn0w and find any bugs before we do a general release!

(If you have an iPhone 3G, or an old-bootrom ipt2g or iPhone 3GS, you already have an untethered jailbreak! Just use the latest public redsn0w.)

To keep things manageable, this will be a Mac-only test program. We also request that any volunteers *NOT* need the ultrasn0w unlock (in case things go very wrong).

Right now, the “backup plan” requires that you have the 4.2b3 IPSW on your Mac, and that Cydia has your 4.2b3 SHSH hashes. Please don’t pirate that 4.2b3 IPSW! (We’re also working on a way that this technique might apply to all those with 4.1 IPSWs, but that’s not the first goal right now.)
To survive in this, you must be a Mac owner, got iOS 4.2 beta 3 SHSH blobs on your Mac or that Cydia has your 4.2b3 SHSH hashes that was automatically saved (in the status bar), and have a new-generation iOS device (i.e. iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad, iPod 4G, 3G).

If you fit all the above qualifications, so you can follow @redsn0w_testers on Twitter and give the Dev-Team a comment in this post to get the backup plan right now ! Let us know how does it go with you. Also stay tuned for a Christmas launch for public.

SHAtter Exploit Possibly Burned? What does it Mean for the Jailbreak Community?

Let the drama begin! We already knew it's happening, SHAtter bootrom exploit is now leaked and it's between Apple's hands! Who leaked it and for what reason? it's still unclear. What's clear is that Apple is going to patch it Limera1n exploit, and SHAtter exploit together in the new iOS devices.

When Limera1n was released two months ago, Chronic Dev Team decided to save SHAtter for next generation devices and don't release it but it seems like pod2g, the developer behind SHAtter bootom exploit, has published it in IRC between 15 person as MuscleNerd states.

iPhone hacker p0sixninja of the Chronic Dev Team is pointing a blame finger to Musclenerd of the iPhone Dev Team. As Musclenerd concentrates on unlocks, it seems unreasonable to think he’d leak an exploit he would need in order to create an unlock.

There's still some wonders if the real SHAtter code is burned or not as this part of Comex's tweet saying (the real) SHAtter digging further into Twitter shows that maybe a fake exploit was leaked on purpose.
Though we don't know if the real SHAtter is leaked or not, feel free to share your ideas in the comment section below! [TiPB]

Downgrade 6.15.00 Baseband Task Will Start After Releasing 2.10.04 Unlock

After MuscleNerd has declared about the new amazing Redsn0w jailbreak features, he has been asked about the downgrade for 6.15.00 baseband on iPhone 3GS and 3G after using ultrasn0w, he points that the work on the downgrade issue won't start only after the release of iPhone 4 baseband 2.10.04 unlock which expected to see the light in less than a month.

Fammbizz asking MuscleNerd: when is ur bb downgrade comin out for 6.15.00
MuscleNerd replying: TBH (to be honest), that won't be looked into until after i4 unlock
Many of users who unlock their devices using ultrasn0w 1.2 noted problems with their GPS, so we expect that downgrade will fix this bug, moreover, there is speculation about the possibility to downgrade the baseband to unlockable one which will be compatible with the old version of ultrasn0w. Stay tuned

Untethered Jailbreak 4.2.1 with Redsn0w will not be Only a Jailbreak

According to MuscleNerd conversation which took place on his Twitter account, he declared about new features on the upcoming Redsn0w version which will not only allow to be an untethered jailbreak for all devices running iOS 4.2.1, but it will upgrade the devices which rely on tethered jailbreak to untethered one without restore, you will only need to use the new version of Redsn0w.

Thanks to comex, redsn0w can now handle much bigger files than ramdisk 25MB limit. Useful for "backup plan" 4.2 untether
This also means that you will never lose any data, applications or any tweaks installed from Cydia, thanks for Dev-team for the hard work. About the timing, most of the indicators tend towards the Xmas (Dec 25) at the worste case according to this post. Of cours we will let you know with all updates related to the new Redsn0w. Stay tuned. [via iSpazio]

Dev-Team Confirms Untethered iOS 4.2.1 for iPhone 4 For Release on Christmas

Just two weeks ago, Comex, the developer behind JailbreakMe and Spirit jailbreak tools has confirmed the arrival of userland untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 to be released on Christmas.

Today, MuscleNerd of the iPhone Dev Team has confirmed the same. In a deleted tweet spotted by RedmondPie claims that a untethered jailbreak solution for iOS 4.2.1 is indeed in works, and that it will be ready for prime-time use somewhere around Christmas.

scotty6kids78: @MuscleNerd are we any closer to the unteathered #jailbreak for the new #ios4.2 on #iphone4 ?

MuscleNerd: @scotty6kids78 it’ll be here by Xmas (not because we’re sitting waiting for Xmas, but because it’s achievable deadline)
We still don't know how reality is this tweet but it seems real. We'll keep you updated as more comes ! [via Redmond Pie]

Unlock 3.10.01 Baseband on iPhone 4 Running iOS 4.2.1 on Progress

Couple of days ago, we reported you about the capability of downgrading iPhone 4 baseband 2.10.04 to 1.59.00 which can be unlocked with ultrasn0w, which may be perfect solution to unlock iPhone 4. Few minutes ago, Sherif Hashim the well-known iPhone hacker has replied someone via his twitter account confirming that work on 3.10.01 baseband is in progress.

Prostat_Pukis asking: that unlock will be for BB 03.10 as well?
sherif_hashim replying: yes
Don't ask about the timing as till now there's now estimate to arrival, but my own expectations that we will see something by the Xmas, stay tuned.

Downgrade 06.15.00 Baseband iPhone 3GS / 3G on iOS 4.2.1 After Ultrasn0w 1.2 Soon

Here's a bit of good news for who suffered from the new unlockable baseband 6.15.00 on iPhone 3GS and 3G. Most of the unlockers who unlocked their devices with ultrasn0w 1.2 can't restore to any stock firmware above 4.1, it only can be restored to a custom firmware, moreover, ultrasn0w 1.2 caused a loss of GPS. Let's check out the new progress regarding downgrade 06.15.00 baseband.

Lezanz: what about GPS issue? Any progress?

Musclenerd: sorry still collecting data on that. But also working on a bb downgrade (!) method for those with unlockable bb
MuscleNerd has confirmed in a tweet that he is working on a new method to downgrade baseband 6.15.00 to lower versions, which will be unlockable and to fix the GPS issue. Till now we didn't catch more details, but of course will let you know once we catch more, stay tuned.

Untethered iOS 4.2.1 Jailbreak on All Devices Achieved [VIDEO]

As most of you know, comex is currently working on an untethered solution for jailbreaking iOS 4.2.1, but today, the iPhone Dev Team has unveiled one of the many their plans! They got up their sleeves with a backup plan for an untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak for all devices.

As they have mentioned, this is not a new exploit, it’s a ‘backup plan’ as comex is working on a more extensible one, but this method is also generalizable. The method only works if you have already saved SHSH blobs of your iOS device. Anyway, take a look at the video demo below and stay tuned as more updates come!

Download Redsn0w 0.9.6b6 to Activate iPhone 3GS / 3G and Fix Battery Drain after Ultrasn0w 1.2

iPhone Dev-Team has just released redsn0w 0.9.6b6 (Windows and Mac) to jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 on iPhone 3GS/3G and update their basebands to iPad baseband 6.15.00, as most of you know that redsn0w 0.9.6b5 did that, but the new version of redsn0w 0.9.6b6 brings activation without
hacktivating, or using original SIM card and increases battery life substantially, as we reported earlier, it was the most prevalent problem after unlocking iPhone 3GS/3G with ultrasn0w 1.2

Developer @sbingner (author of TetherMe) has made some excellent progress devising a new hactivation method that kills two birds with one stone for all you ultrasn0w unlockers.  His tool, “Subscriber Artificial Module (SAM)” tricks your iPhone and iTunes into creating legitimate activation tickets even though you’re unlocked with ultrasn0w.  This means you get the full benefit of push applications, and your battery life increases substantially.  If you’d like to try it out, check out http://www.bingner.com/SAM.html
To help make it easier to try out @sbingner’s tool, we’ve updated redsn0w to include a new “Deactivate” option for the 3G and 3GS.  Use this option *after* you’ve installed SAM…it will remove the normal patches made to lockdownd and let SAM take over.  (sbingner plans on making a button to do this within SAMPrefs too).  Great work, @sbingner!
Thanks @sbingner for the hard work, as usual we will prepare the full step by step guide, showing you how to use SAM and the newly redsn0w 0.9.6b6. Stay tuned.

UPDATE: Here is the step by step guide showing how to Activate iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G Without Original SIM or Hacktivation with SAM & Redsn0w 0.9.6b6 Click Here.
